The 117 hp was the mid year release models....to my knowledge nobody has put the 09's on the dyno yet.
Guys who rode them last year and bought them this year are stating a noticeable improvement, so no doubt Doo bumped them up a bit.

It looks like the cleanest burning 2-stroke with lower emissions than some 4-strokes is getting 20+mpg and more power than advertised.

Hope you're ok bud....them things can be dangerous. I don't think I know anyone who rides on a regular basis who hasn't gotten jacked up by the dam things at least once.
Nothing quite like that feeling you get when you know the horse is out of control and you're going to wind up on the ground.

That 1200 engine should be compared to yams 4-holer, but all they want to compare it to is the 3-holer, why is that? That's the biggest engine in any snowmobile, in the lightest chassis of any 4-stroke, so it should be the baddest, fastest thing on snow don't ya think? But it isn't!!!
What? Doo's 3 cylinder 130hp engine should be compared to Yam's 4 cylinder 150hp instead of Yam's 130hp 3 cylinder?

Come on doo the do, you know I like ski-doo but to say yamaha's the only one that makes outrageous claims or hyper markets their sleds is stupid...lol. Ski-doo is the one who claimed their etec was as clean as a 4 stroke..it's not...nuff said. Also the etec is down on power...ski-doo says it won't be, but the after market shop dyno's don't lie. Also the MPG Doo is claiming may have been a little exzagerated. How come Supertrax claims the 800r was getting 25 MPG (they smoke alot of dope???), and AM Sled said 11 MPG. Who is right??? Call me cautious, but I think I'd rather have an SDI 600 than the new etec....this year anyway.
Ski Doo claimed the Etec was the cleanest 2 stroke, but never claimed it was as clean as a 4 stroke.
As I said earlier the EPA rating going from a 2.6 to a 4.6, means nothing in terms of any claim Doo may have made. Still the lowest of any 2 stroke and it still has lower CO emissions than some 4 strokes. Exactly what they said about it last year when it was released.
The aftermarket dynos you speak of tested the early release models and yes, they were down on hp from the SDI. This year's production models are said to be around 120...who knows/cares?
The SDI was by far the best 2 stroke 600 engine available so I doubt Doo would take a risk by replacing it with the Etec.
So, I guess if someone bought an etec strictly for the EPA rating alone, then yes they should demand their money back. If they bought it because Doo told them it was the cleanest 2 stroke with lower emissions than some 4 strokes, then they got what was advertised.
